Pamela King

Hi, my name is Pam!

I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist.  That just means that my training involved not only working with individuals but also couples and family dynamics.  Some circumstance of life has brought you to this website, and I want to help you walk through this in a way that makes you emotionally healthy, strong and at peace.  We cannot go through life without being hit with struggles.  We all have times when things don’t go the way we want them to go.  I want to be an encourager for you as you venture out on your journey of self-exploration, goal setting and achievement.  I want to give you tools to help you overcome anxiety, stress, hopelessness and fear. You CAN deal with the challenges that have come to you at this time in your life!  You CAN change behaviors that are damaging your relationships, and if your partner is willing, he/she CAN change as well, so that your relationship can be intimate, loving and respectful - even when you disagree!  You and your family CAN learn new ways to communicate so love and respect are the center of your relationships, not only between partners, but also between parents and children, and everyone in your life.  If you are hurting, my desire is to help you find healing.  Change can sometimes be a scary thing, but It can be wonderful and exciting as well! You are not alone.  We'll take it as slow - or as quickly - as you need to go.

I completed my Bachelor of Arts in Religion from Luther Rice University and Seminary, and my Master of Arts degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Liberty University.  I am also a trained in Emotion Focused Couples Therapy., and I am trained to understand the psychological aspect to our thinking, as well as how to put that training into a spiritual worldview.  I’ve worn a lot of hats in my life besides “counselor” and “therapist” - as an artist, business owner, mediator, anger management and conflict resolution trainer, spouse and parent.  I don’t think I ever completely remove any of those hats, as the knowledge I have gained over the years in each area stays with me, and I often glean from that knowledge during our sessions.

I grew up in Montana and have lived not only in that beautiful state, but also Colorado, and for the last 47 years in Texas.  I have two grown married children in whom I am very proud, and delight in my five grandchildren, who live nearby.  I have been married for 47 years to my husband, a man I love and respect and still talk with for hours.  I love all forms of art, photography, hiking, and doing anything outdoors.  I enjoy animals, especially coming home not only to my husband, but also our new golden retriever puppy, Pazi.  We've never had just one pup before, so we look forward to adding to our  "pack" in the coming months with one or more puppies!
